Hester Stasse

Like so many authors, Hester caught the writing bug at a very early age. She caused many a raised eyebrow when the teachers read her out-of-the-box and usually rather long stories, and made several appearances in the school paper. During her time at university, she went on to write articles, CD and concert reviews for a large progressive rock site.

While living and working in Sweden, she started to write what is to become ‘The Mercenary Trilogy’ - a post-apocalyptic story set in Europe somewhere in the future - just to get her mind off her busy job. The tale grew and grew, but apart from Hester’s mum, no-one got to read it.

In 2012, a few years after moving back to The Netherlands, Hester decided to finally come out of the writing closet and submitted some stories to various writing contests. One of these was the Dark Romance contest by young-adults.nl, which led to the publication of her novella ‘Dromenland’ in the multi-author bundle ‘Dark Romance - Ontluikende Liefde’. The English translation of this novella about a boy who shares his dreams with a girl in his class will soon be available.

The year after, Hester reached fourth place in the second edition of the Dark Romance writing contest and sixth in the Dystopian version.

Right now, Hester is working on several projects, among which a dystopian novel, a sci-fi shortstory, a fantasy shortstory, a paranormal romance novella and a thriller. She lives in the southern part of The Netherlands with two house rabbits.
